Hi...I am Abhijit Makhal. I live in the beautiful mountain view city of Pocatello, Idaho. Currently I am pursuing my PhD under Dr.Alba Perez Gracia in Measurement and Control Engineering Research Laboratory (Hand and Grasping lab) at Idaho State University. My thesis topic is "Comparison and Evaluation of Common Hands with Self-designed
Task-Specific Robotic Hands in context of Grasp Learning"
Previously I have attended Robita lab at Indian Institute of Information Technology,Allahabad, INDIAfor my Masters degree under the supervison of Dr.Pavan Chakraborty and Prof.G.C.Nandi in the topic "Development and Implementation of A Real-time Mobile Robot for Navigation by Image Recognition". Later I have worked in the Robita lab on the topic “Development of a novel Framework for Social Assistance through Human-Robot Interaction”.
Before that I have obtained by B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bengal Institute of Technology and Management, Santiniketan, West Bengal, INDIA.
............................................................................................................................................................................................
My research interests are Grasping Analysis, Humanoids, Machine Learning Techniques, 3D Object Recognition, Kinematics & Mechanics, Mobile Manipulators, Computer Vision, Perception, Human-robot Interaction,
Social Robotics, Mobile Manipulation & Robot Control
............................................................................................................................................................................................
During June-September, 2017 I worked at Human Centered Robotics lab at University of Washington as a research scientist with Prof.Maya Cakmak and Prof. Siddhartha S. Srinivasa in the project "Whole body Control of Mobile Manipulators for Large Surface Cleaning"
In the month of April,2017 I traveled to Barcelona, Spain to work at Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica industrial, Barcelona as a visiting research scientist.
During the summer of 2016, I worked as an intern at Google Summer of Code at ROS-Industrial/ OSRF in the project Reuleaux: A package for Robot Reachability and Base Placement.
